Michelle Monaghan has signed on to star in the psychological thriller Blood, which has Brad Anderson attached to direct. Will Honley has penned the script.
The film will follow Jess, a separated mother and nurse who moves with her daughter and young son Owen back into her old family farmhouse. Shortly after settling in, Owen is bitten by the family dog, which results in in a mysterious infection from the bite. When Jess discovers a disturbing cure, she is tested on the extent she’ll go to keep her child alive.
Sounds good! Monaghan has always been a reliable screen presence who deserves more lead roles, and this sounds like a great role to – no pun intended – sink her teeth into. Anderson has directed films such as The Machinist, Session 9, and The Call, so he very much knows how to handle this genre.
Monaghan recently starred in Netflix’s geo-political TV thriller Messiah and Hulu’s drama series The Path.
She’ll next be seen in Zoe Lister-Jones‘ Blumhouse remake/reboot of The Craft, while she recently wrapped production on Christine Jeffs‘ Every Breath You Take, which she starred in alongside her Gone Baby Gone co-star Casey Affleck and Sam Claflin.
