Four time Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams is the latest star to be attached to Sony’s Venom. Williams is reportedly set to join Tom Hardy and Riz Ahmed in director Ruben Fleischer‘s film.

Character details have not yet been revealed, but as it goes for women in the superhero universe, if you’re not Wonder Woman, you’re probably going to be the love interest. It’s a surprising choice by Williams, considering her tendency toward meatier dramas such as Manchester by the Sea, My Week With Marilyn, Blue Valentine, and Brokeback Mountain, each of which she has been highly commended for.

Michelle Williams already has seven films lined up, and is truly keeping herself busy with exciting projects. She stars in The Greatest Showman alongside Hugh Jackman, and heads the long awaited Janis Joplin biopic, Janis. Williams can next be seen in Todd HaynesWonderstruck.

Venom is among Sony’s top priorities, set for an October 5, 2018 release date.
