Miles Davis Biopic To Close New York Film Festival | Film News

 

Don Cheadle’s directorial debut Miles Ahead is due to close this year’s prestigious New York Film Festival. Cheadle will be pleased to know that Oscar Award winners, Birdman, Her, Flight, and The Descendants have all closed the festival in recent years. Cheadle who wrote the film also stars as the legendary Jazz musician.

 

Miles Ahead will focus on Davis’ life in the late 1970s when the jazz great was largely confined to his Manhattan apartment, dealing with financial troubles as well as being haunted by memories of his past. Emayatzy Corinealdi who played a starring role in Ava Dernays 2012 film Middle Of Nowhere is casted as Davis’s ex-wife Frances Taylor whilst Ewan McGregor will play journalist Dave Brill. The Festival will run from September 25 to October 11, with Robert Zemeckis’s The Walk opening the event.
