‘Moonlight’ Star Ashton Sanders In Talks To Join ‘Equalizer 2’ | Film News

The Equalizer 2 is continues to build up its cast, with Moonlight‘s Ashton Sanders in talks to join the film. Antoine Fuqua returns to direct Denzel Washington in the sequel as Robert McCall, retired special ops agent who find himself caught up in helping those in need.

The nature of Sanders’ role is currently unknown, but considering he’s a youngster, I’m certain he’s on the good side. It was recently announced that Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal was in talks to play the antagonist in the film, possibly as the leader of a gang as in the original. Melissa Leo and Bill Pulman return for the sequel.

Sanders is known for playing the younger version of main character Chiron in the Academy-Award winning Moonlight. His next film, Captive State, is currently in post-production. A sci-fi, post-apocalyptic film of sorts, it also stars John Goodman and Vera Farmiga.

The Equalizer 2 begins filming next month in Boston in aim for a September 14, 2018 release date.
