Norwegian singer songwriter Kjetil Mørland, or Mørland, has returned to the world of music after the successful “No Firewall”, released in August. The Eurovision 2015 star has released his brand new single, “Skin”, which he wrote and produced himself. The track will also appear on his major debut album out later this year, and is released digitally today (February 22) . It is a soulful effort, but quite polished with a sound recognisable to those familiar with piano lead and driven pop. It has quite an melancholy aspect to it, too. Haunting in some respects, and definitely mournful.
The music video, directed by Scott Wright, takes place at a funeral. At first he is amongst fellow mourners gathered round a body, presumed to be a woman. Then he leaves and goes for a walk, perhaps to get his head straight. He then, and this is all very faithful to the lyrics themselves, rushes back to join the procession. Someone appears to place a dark, red rose on top of the shrouded body near the conclusion.
