Mother Of Bee Gees Barbara Gibb Dies At Age 95 | Music News

 

According to press reports, Barbara Gibb has died at age 95 on Friday. She was best known as the mother of famous trio, the Bee Gees. Also solo artist, Andy Gibb, is her son, too. According to a statement by Barry Gibb’s publicist, she was amongst family and friends when she died.

 

Barbara Gibb was born in Manchester, England in 1920 as Barbara Mary Pass. She and husband, Hugh Gibb, had five children, the four aforementioned sons, and a daughter, Lesley. They managed the Bee Gees and Andy Gibb’s early careers, both hugely successful, with together in excess of 200 million records sold. She has lived in Miami for the last 20 years.

 

She also surpassed the lifetimes of three of her children. Andy died in 1988 at age 30 from myocarditis, a heard condition. Maurice died in 2003 at age 53 from complications of a twisted intestine. Robin died in 2012 at age 62, when cancer caused his liver and kidney to fail.
