Multicultural music artist and published author John Orpheus has released his new single “Fela Awoke (I Will Miss You”, which comes on the back of his recent book SAGA BOY which was released by Penguin Random House Canada on January 19.
The artist has managed to take advantage with his South-Central Trinidad origins to combine hip-hop swagger, afrobeat energy and dancehall charisma to create a sound built on big catchy hooks, and he has his unique energy on a concert by making the audience participating.
His goal is to transform the concert in a sort of Caribbean party to feel more familiar and more intimate. Thanks to this goal, he has been standing out from others.
In 2019, he launched a very special album WEY YA CALL DAT TING produced and co-written by Mike Schlosser, which was an accumulation of three years of working with four mixtape projects that he used to develop and hone his unique sound.
“Fela Awoke (I Will Miss You)” is the beginning of a new phase in John Orpheus’ trajectory and introduces you to his deeply personal story, which had definitely captivated the audience – the song is like a ballad that we want to be part on.
