We’re now just two months away from the arrival of Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the much-anticipated sequel to 2014’s Godzilla that promises to deliver a planet full of monster mayhem after the relative calm of the first film. A new TV spot has just arrived and it focuses on that. It definitely doesn’t disappoint.
Set five years after the first film, King of the Monsters shows us a world that’s been awakened by Godzilla’s presence. Gigantic creatures called ‘Titans’ are popping up everywhere, taking to land, sea and sky in an effort to re-establish dominance over the planet, with the human race standing in the way of that.
The story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient superspecies – thought to be myths — rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
Directed by Michael Dougherty from a script he co-wrote with Zach Shields, Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Kyle Chandler, as well as Oscar-nominee Vera Farmiga and Millie Bobby Brown in her feature film debut.
Bradley Whitford, Oscar-nominee Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, Aisha Hinds, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Oscar-nominee David Strathairn will feature, along with Oscar-nominee Ken Watanabe and Golden Globe-nominee Ziyi Zhang.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits theatres May 31. In the meantime enjoy the new TV spot below.
