If you’re like me, you’ve been counting down the days until the girls in orange jumpsuits come back onto our screens. And now it seems we have a date to mark in the calendar.
The hugely successful Netflix show about a young woman’s life in prison has run for four seasons already, in which we’ve seen some pretty rough stuff.
And it doesn’t seem the action is letting up anytime soon. Along with the release date, Netflix unveiled a teaser trailer for the new season, and it is adrenaline fuelled.
The footage shows some of our favourite ladies of Litchfield through a range of harrowing emotions and ends with the cliffhanger of last season – Daya (Dascha Polanco) pointing a gun at an officer.
So can we expect a prison riot? We can surely expect an intense fallout after the untimely death of character favourite, Poussey (Samira Wiley), when her character was accidentally killed during a protest by a white guard. Fellow inmate, Taystee (Danielle Brooks), had nothing to lose, and incited a riot from the gutsy ladies. The episode ended with a massive cliff hanger, and we were left wondering whether Daya would pull that trigger.
Unfortunately, we still have a few months to wait. Netflix have confirmed that Orange Is The New Black will return on June 9.
Brooks said of the anticipated series:
“It will be very detailed, very intense, and you better get ready. Get your popcorn, your tissues“.
Sounds like a humdinger.
