South London artist Oscar Jerome today releases “Smile On A Screen“, a penisve yet colourful new single. This comes as the follow-up from the previous release of “Subdued“, both of which will feature on Oscar’s forthcoming Where Are Your Branches? EP which is due out January 26.
It may be the work of Oscar Jerome but he is not alone; with a collective of talented musicians behind him, he has been able to put together a song that has groove, soul and is definitely infectious, merely boosted with the spoken word poetry of fellow South Londoner James Massiah .While sombre and eerie at first, the track bursts aloud in full effect with his signature jazz flavour
Oscar Jerome, on the subject of “Smile On A Screen” mentioned: “This tune has grown through being played live, it took a while to find its identity when recorded but with a mash-up of mine, Maxwell Owin and Wu-Lu’s production skills it finally found a life of its own.”
Co-signed by the likes of 6Music, 1Xtra and Radio 1 as well as a gleaming profile by i-D, Oscar Jerome is definitely a name not to forget. He will be touring this month in the run-up to the release of his sophomore EP and concluding with his headline show at Corsica Studios, London on January 31. Tickets available here.
