South London artist Oscar Jerome releases his new uptempo single “Subdued” and enchants us with his soulful voice along with relaxing guitar solos.
The “Subdued” single is a mixture of electronic and hip-hop sounds with the influence of such artists as Gil Scott-Heron, The Clash, Jay Dilla. Currently Oscar is described as one of the rising artists of London’s jazz scene.
Speaking about the new single, Oscar explains: “I wanted to try and comment on the arrogance of our Western culture and certain people’s inability to view their existence as something much bigger than their own ego. I’m not going to point any fingers, take from it what you will.”
This new track follows Oscar’s debut EP (2016) which caught Radio 1, Boiler Room, 1Xtra and 6Music attention.
While his first headline show at London’s Servant Jazz Quarters tonight (November 15) is already sold-out, you can purchase the tickets for his next concert on January 31 at The Montague Arms.
