The Saturday Night Live (SNL) comedian, Pete Davidson, has announced the creation of his semi-autobiographical comedy series titled Bupkis.
Davidson will star as himself in the comedy series and will have his fellow SNL partner, Lorne Michaels, be the executive producer.
The upcoming comedy has been described as a “raw, unflinching, fictionalised version of Pete Davidson’s real life. It will include a mixture of grounded storytelling with absurd elements depicting an unfiltered view through Pete’s eyes”.
The 28 year old actor will be co-writing the show with his lifelong friends Dave Sirus and Judah Miller. Sirus and Davison have previously worked together on The King of Staten Island (2020), a semi-autobiographical film about Davidson in which he also played himself. The film was nominated for a plethora of awards, and won the CinEuphoria award for Best Actor.
Davidson is best known for being a cast member on SNL since 2014 and is currently on his eight season of the show. The SNL star has also appeared on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Suicide Squad and co-hosted Miley Cyrus’s New Years Eve Party 2022.
Deals are still underway for Bupkis, and it is currently being pitched to streaming services such as Prime Video and Peacock.
It will be interesting to see how this comedy series will differ from The King of Staten Island, as both star Davidson as himself and are inspired by his life. Perhaps the latest comedy series will touch upon his relationship with Kim Kardashian and the feud with Kanye West.
