Indianapolis-born singer-songwriter Jill Valentyne has shared her new single titled “DWYW”.
Spending most of her adolescence in the music universe, Jill has become the third generation of her family to be attract by the fourth art.
It started with her grandmother sharing her love for Motown-era legends, which include Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye or Aretha Franklin.
It continued with her mother introducing her to classic 80s/90s R&B rom artists such as Luther Vandross and Jodeci.
Her older brother also played a key role in her music fulfilment and made her discover genre-pushing artists like Pharrell Williams and Kanye West.
When she reached college, the Phoenix based artist had already shared some of her work through Soundcloud, and the University of Sant Francis pushed her further toward her path allowing her to record in campus studios and use the resources provided as much as possible.
In 2017, the Indiana-raised singer made her debut with the meaningful Perspective Vol. 1., after giving birth to her daughter which gave her the strength to fight her fears.
About this period of her life, Jill said “Even when it’s scary, do it scared, because everything you want and need is outside your comfort zone!”
As part of her upcoming EP GPS, the singer insists on the importance to ‘Do What You Wanna’ in short “D.W.Y.W.”. The message is to reach independence no manner what it costs, it is about giving all to make your dreams happened.
Jill shared her thoughts about the song “It’s about doing you to the fullest. Whatever that looks like to you. If you want to be a florist, be the best florist the world has ever seen. And get paid while doing it.”
