Montreal trio Planet Giza have dropped their brand new track “Brk Frm Nrml” featuring Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins, taken from their forthcoming project Added Sugar.
The group concoct an effortlessly smooth, soul hued track, their vocal interplay gliding across the beats before acclaimed wordsmith Jenkins jumps on a verse. It’s a refreshing, artistic brand of Hip-Hop and with it being synonymous with Jenkins’ sound, it’s no surprise he gets the nod.
Speaking to Complex, the band shared: “Brk frm nrml is one of the first songs we made while working on the “Added Sugar” project. It set the tone for the direction we wanted to take sonically. Having Mick Jenkins on the record displaying lyrical prowess changed the whole dynamic of the song.”
The crew have released a series of projects over the last couple of years, most recently 2018’s ZZZ EP, a hypnotic 3 song project showcasing their versatility, with each track revealing their mastery of different styles. But they now brace for a bigger and bolder project this year, a hopeful reflection of their multi-cultural backgrounds.
