As reputations go, twenty-five year old singer/songwriter Plested started his musical career as part of acclaimed duo Chasing Grace, before his talent for writing really became evident and took off – penning for the likes of Zayn Malik to Ray BLK. But a return to the foreground was already written in the stars.
With a stream of releases this year, including the hugely supported “Habits“, he now offers up a new gem in “Back Up Plan“. The stripped-back guitar instrumental is garnished with his softly-burnished vocal, building up to a gorgeous hook that entices and encapsulates a package that reaffirms his exceptional ability. When you love something you aim to make it work, whether it be love or music (in his case), no back up plan.
With a debut solo album on the horizon and a headline show on July 25 at Kings Cross Old Church, the emerging star (compared to the likes of Shawn Mendes and Charlie Puth) has attracted around him some of the biggest producers and songwriters in the game – Malay (Frank Ocean), Eg White (Sam Smith) and Emily Warren (Dua Lipa) to name just a few. His ascension is all but guaranteed.
