The heavily anticipated seventh installment of Star Wars is now just around the corner, with Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens coming to screens in the UK on December 18. There will be new characters, and recognisable characters, but one such returning character will not quite be the same – Princess Leia will be referred to as ‘General’ Leia.
While admitting that “there’s a moment in the movie where a character sort of slips and calls her Princess“, director J.J Abrams confirms when speaking with Entertainment Weekly that “she’s referred to as General”. He went on to hint at the important role she would play in the storyline by stating that “the stakes are pretty high in the story for her, so there’s not much goofing around where Leia’s concerned“. So what’s the ‘General’ consensus Star Wars fans?
