Marvel’s long-awaited standalone Black Widow movie has added a couple of talented actors to its cast. Fresh off a show-stealing performance in The Favourite, Rachel Weisz is set for a big role, while Hellboy himself David Harbour is also on board. The duo join Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh in the film.
As with any Marvel news, details are being kept under wraps. Weisz is expected to have a significant role though. It will arguably be her first action movie since her breakout role in 1999’s The Mummy. Harbour’s role is also undisclosed, but this is smart casting. The Stranger Things star may become a far bigger name once the new Hellboy arrives Friday, April 12.
The Black Widow movie is reportedly an international spy thriller of sorts, but that’s really all we know. Cate Shortland (Berlin Syndrome) is directing from Jac Schaeffer‘s script. Schaeffer is also set to write and showrun Marvel’s upcoming Vision And Scarlet Witch series for Disney+.
Production on Black Widow is set to start in London in June, so we may get more news as that date approaches. The cast they’ve put together looks very promising, and hopefully the movie many have waited years for delivers.
