Rainy Milo – Treasure Girl | Music Video
Rainy Milo is one of my favourite British artists of the past two years. Her debut album This Thing Of Ours is available right now on iTunes and from that album, she unveils a brand new single titled “Treasure Girl” accompanied by a lush new music video directed by Dexter Navy for our viewing pleasure. The single will be released on May 19 and Rainy headlines her first UK solo gig on May 28 at Oslo Hackney.
“Following the release of her critically acclaimed debut single ‘Bout You’, 18-year-old south-east Londoner Rainy Milo is set to make waves again. ‘Treasure Girl’ is the new single from Rainy’s debut album ‘This Thing of Ours’, released earlier this month to significant praise from the press. Produced, recorded and mixed by San Francisco based Daje, ‘Treasure Girl’ is a perfect mix of jazz fuelled R’n’B and soulful pop – the result is the perfect summer soundtrack.
A beautifully slick and stylish video will be released to accompany the forthcoming single (watch here). Rainy’s honeyed soulful vocals and honest lyrics are beautifully translated into the hidden homeliness of a grand, picturesque, Tom Ford-esque garden reminiscent of the high style of ‘A Single Man’.
Carrying the success of her hit single ‘Rats’, the track will be featured on the forthcoming film ‘Vampire Academy’ set to be released April 23rd. Based on the American – best selling series of six, the movie follows the tales of the teens in a hidden boarding school of mortal vampires. ‘Rats’ signifies the dark atmosphere of the film while Rainy sketches with her voice a teen scene from lines in a diary. The original version was first released in November 2013, and is featured on her debut album ‘This Things Of Ours’.”
