The rivalry between the two queens of rap in the 90s, Lil Kim and Foxy Brown, over the past two decades is no secret. In 1997, Def Jam CEO Lyor Cohen even offered them $1 million to record a joint album but the project never saw the light of day.
The reason for that remains unclear but Foxy’s brother Gavin Marchand claimed, “They were both getting $500,000 each just to show up at Hit Factory”, he told Vibe in 2011, “They never showed up, and the project never happened. They both cut their phones off”.
Back in December 2020, former Bad Boy producer, Rashad Smith first teased a long lost Foxy Brown and Lil’ Kim collaboration via a picture he shared on his Instagram showing old school cassette tapes. One of the these included an unreleased Kim and Foxy joint called “Enjoy Yourself” apparently dating from 1997. The Kim and Foxy beef started in late 1996.
However, earlier this week, a snippet of the never-before-heard track that was reportedly set to appear on Foxy and Kim’s joint album Thelma and Louise. In fact, Rashad ‘Ringo’ Smith played it during his appearance on Fat Joe’s Instagram Live show for the first time.
Unfortunately, he only shared Foxy’s verse, on which she raps about a “dynamic duo” and when Joe asked for a snippet from Kim’s verse, Rashad responded, “Soon come”.
Rumors recently surfaced that the rap rivals were planning to squash their long-running feud and come together for a Verzuz battle.
