According to the band’s verified Twitter account, Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to release a new song on May 5 and, if the picture attached to the tweet is anything to go by, it’s called “Dark Necessities”.
For a while now, the foursome have been working on a follow-up to 2011’s I’m With You, and in 2014 the new songs were described as “super danceable, funky shit and some real introspective, pretty stuff” by bassist Flea.
On March 21, their official site posted a news update with the caption: “[s]tarted Mixing the new record today!”, but a release date has yet to be confirmed.
