Rico Nasty has just released a new single called “Time Flies” where she sings, instead of her usual rapping, over a trap beat with rave synths. Keeping up the momentum she has been building since her major label mixtape debut Nasty last year, this new track is her first release since April’s Anger Management, with Kenny Beats, which is one of the best records of this year so far.
Since the releasing of that project, Rico Naty has been performing on the summer festival circuit and a global tour, and was just featured on XXL’s 2019 Freshman class, alongside Tierra Whack, Comethazine, DaBaby, Blueface, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Mosey, Roddy Ricch, YBN Cordae, YK Osiris and Gunna.
“Time Flies” brings something different to what we have heard from Rico before, because it is a bit cosier than her previous abrasive sounds. On the chorus, she sings “I don’t wanna be on the ground when the time flies / Had so many friends going / Wonder when it’s my time/ I live everyday like I’ll die by the night time/ It took me so long getting back to my right mind”, which is a bit more reflective and personally courageous for Rico Nasty.
