The genius behind Alien Ridley Scott will return to the franchise to direct their upcoming prequel. The legendary filmmaker told Variety that he wants to revisit the franchise that he once brought to life and he also confessed that he plans to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the original Alien film by directing another prequel film. According to Variety, the movie script is still in the process of being written.
The movie will follow Alien: Covenant released back in 2017 and Prometheus from 2012, the subsequent prequels from the Alien Saga. The first movie was released in 1979 and helped skyrocket Sigourney Weaver‘s career.
Despite the success of the first movie, Scott decided to step away from the franchise and reappeared in 2003 with Alien: The Director Cut and took to the franchise again to direct the two prequels, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.
According to Indiewire, the next Alien movie reportedly will be titled Alien: Awakening though nothing has been confirmed about the movie yet. The only information we got so far is in Variety’s latest report that Scott is still developing the project and planning to direct.
