The threat of the Zika virus continues to wreak havoc. Among others, Rihanna has dropped out of the inaugural Lollapalloza Colombia festival due to fears that she might get infected, which has been linked to birth defects.
Festival organizers were unable to find a suitable replacement for the singer in time, opting to cancel the festival entirely. The concert, which was set to take place in Bogotá on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18. Stars were to include the likes of Lana Del Rey, Anderson .Paak, and Disclosure. Refunds will be fulfilled.
This all follows a handful of world class athletes deciding not to go to Rio next month to compete in the Olympics, also over fears of contracting Zika. U.S. Congress has yet to pass a bill that will fund Zika prevention efforts stateside.
