Earlier this month, LVMH announced that Rihanna would be launching a new clothing line in partnership with of LVMH called Fenty. Bernard Arnault, the CEO praised the Barbados singer, “Everybody knows Rihanna as a wonderful singer, but through our partnership at Fenty Beauty, I discovered a true entrepreneur, a real CEO and a terrific leader“.
Rihanna completely revolutionized the cosmetics industry with Fenty Beauty, which markets to women of all different shades, and she also has Fenty x Savage under her belt, her lingerie line which offers many specific and different sizes of bras for women. It seems only right that Rihanna would venture herself in the fashion world, as she becomes the first black woman to be in charge of the major fashion house.
The singer recently opened up to New York Time’s T Magazine about shifting to the fashion world “I’ve been slowly evolving throughout the fashion world and first wearing it, buying it, being recognised for my style and then collaborating with brands.
I never just wanted to put my name on something and sell my license. I’m very hands-on, so I wanted to take it slowly and gain respect as a designer. I already had a relationship with them after the Versailles campaign and the makeup line, so they extended the offer to me, and it was a no-brainer because LVMH is a machine. Bernard Arnault was so enthusiastic; he trusted me and my vision”.
The new collection is a mix of masculine and feminine; we see suits, baggy, parkas and denim jackets in pastels colours. The singer describes her Fenty collection as indispensable casual clothes that we need in our wardrobe. The clothing line will be launched in May 24 through a pop-up store in Paris, and will be fully available at fenty.com on May 29. Rihanna posted the first photos of her Fenty fashion line via Instagram and a teaser video on Youtube this week.
