Rising Indie Pop Trio Bailen Unveil New Single ‘Tired Hearts’

Bailen, a rising indie-pop trio, have released “Tired Hearts,” the title track from their second full-length album, Tired Hearts, which is due on May 5 via Fantasy. The dreamy, reflective track quickly transforms from a gentle melody intro into a lustre, digging deeper, and strong search for acquiescence.

“Tired Hearts” was one of the first songs written for the new album, according to the band. “It set the tone for the rest of the songs, both thematically and musically. The song began as an adaptation of a 19th century poem about an Irish factory worker, and it explores the search for understanding and belonging while our means of survival drive us further away from that goal. To be honest, this song is about late-stage capitalism.”

Daniel, David, and Julia Bailen convey an enticing set of songs on Tired Hearts that explore the space between both the heart’s anticipation and the head’s dispassionate reality. The album’s 12 original songs, at times complicated and mischievous, evaluated and expound, struggle with an unknown future in which morality and ethics collaborative and individual changing constantly.

BAILEN is currently on a 25-city North American tour that will take them to major cities before concluding with a hometown performance at New York’s venerable Le Poisson Rouge on May 20th. BAILEN will also have a major appearance this week at Austin’s renowned SXSW Music Festival, which runs from March 14th to March 16th.
