Amazing news have been revealed! Hollywood stars Robert De Niro and Shia LaBeouf have been tapped up to star in the upcoming crime drama After Exile.
Jobs director Joshua Michael Stern will be at the helm, with a script written by Anthony Thorne and Michael Tovo. The story was penned by Tovo and it is based on true events from his own life, while Thorne is producing the film alongside Steve Snyder of Pacific Shore Films.
The film will follow the story of Mike Delaney who, after being released from prison for murdering and innocent man during a violent robbery, must go back to his old life with his ex-criminal father in order to save his brother from a life of crime and drugs.
De Niro will play the role of the father, an ex-convict who lost his wife years ago and tries to ease the pain and the guilt he is feeling inside with alcohol, while LaBeouf will be De Niro’s older son Mike Delaney. The filming will start in Philadelphia in October.
Meanwhile, both De Niro and LaBeouf will be working on other big projects. De Niro is reuniting with Martin Scorsese, Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel to star in Scorsese’s mob thriller The Irishman, also starring iconic actor Al Pacino.
The film will make its World Premiere at the New York Film Festival and De Niro is one of the co-producers. He will also appear in Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker.
LaBeouf’s last project has already been released and you can currently see him in Peanut Butter Falcon. Moreover, the acclaimed Sundance film that he wrote will be on theaters this autumn. Honey Boy stars LaBeouf and follows the story about his own life, where he opens up about his high road as a child star.
