‘Rogue One’ Star Riz Ahmed In Talks To Join ‘Venom’ | Film News

Riz Ahmed is in early talks to join Sony’s Venom movie, which currently has British star Tom Hardy attached to lead. Director Ruben Fleischer‘s spinoff of the Spider-Man franchise acts as a standalone film, and current spidey Tom Holland will not make an appearance. Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower) write the script.

Details on both the movie and Ahmed’s role are yet to be published, though the actor is said to be playing a popular Marvel character. What is known, is Ahmed has enjoyed a successful year in Hollywood; he earned a SAG and Emmy nomination for The Night Of, starred in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Netflix’s The OA. Will this catalyse his continuing rise?

Production on Venom begins this autumn, with the final product set to premiere on October 5, 2018.
