Disappointing news for those who were excited for the March 13 release of Ron Howard‘s drama In The Heart Of The Sea. Warner Brothers have decided to delay the whaling drama back to December 11th so that its in prime positions for next years awards season. Warner Bros clearly think that the film, which tells the horrifying real-life story of the sinking of the whale-ship Essex in 1820, is going to be making the awards rounds and I have to say, from what I’ve seen, I agree.
Not only do the dramatic performances from the likes of Chris Hemsworth look topnotch, the visual splendor of the terrifying ocean look like they can seriously stir up some awards excitement. While I’m disappointed the film won’t be out anytime soon, its with good reason, the delay becomes official. Also starring Cillian Murphy, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson and Charlotte Riley, In The Heart of The Sea will eventually come to theatres on December 11.
