Said Taghmaoui (Three Kings, La Haine, The Kite Runner) has joined the cast of Wonder Woman. The actor posted a, since been deleted, photo on his Instagram account of himself with Chris Pine on the set of the upcoming film. Taghmaoui revealed his involvement with the comic book movie in the October issue of French magazine Ultra, and roughly translated, he told the French magazine, “I’ll be playing a superhero, but details are still under wraps, so I can’t tell you much”.
He went on to say, “I was among hundreds of potential candidates, and I slowly became the favorite. It wasn’t easy. It took me three months. [I’ll have to go through] extensive physical training. Shooting was slated to begin in November, and will take about 6 months, in 4 different countries“.
Wonder Woman is only one of what seems to be an endless stream of comic book movies coming out in the next few years (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Taghmaoui is joining a cast already featuring Gal Gadot as the titular Kryptonian, and, as shown above, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor. The film will be directed by Patty Jenkins, whose last feature film was Monster in 2003, and the film will be released in 2017 (exact UK release date to be confirmed).
