Sally Field and Jonah Hill are a pair you wouldn’t necessarily put together, but would then be thrilled to see onscreen. Along with Emma Stone, the Hollywood stars are now set to work together on the high profile Netflix comedy Maniac.
Created and directed by Cary Fukunaga, and written by Patrick Somerville based on the 2014 Norwegian series, the dark comedy revolves around the fantasy worlds of two patients at a mental institute. Though we know Stone and Hill are playing the patients, Field’s character has been kept under wraps. Presumably, she could be playing a patient’s mother. Justin Theroux also plays a part in the project.
This is Sally Field’s first TV gig since leading the ABC drama Brothers & Sisters; the show wrapped in 2011, but earned Field one of three Emmy Awards. A two-time Oscar winner, she can be seen in Netflix’s recently released Little Evil, beside Adam Scott and Evangeline Lilly.
The 10-episode series is currently filming in New York City, expected for a 2018 release.
