Sam Smith has joined forces with former Fifth Harmony singer Normani and together they have created their first collaborative single titled “Dancing With a Stranger”.
The new track is definitely 80s-inspired and has got that chilled and slow jam vibe to it. The two switch vocals throughout the verses and unite their harmonies in the second chorus. Smith uses his mesmerising higher pitch abilities while Normani amazes the listeners with her solid yet smooth voice.
“Look what you made me do, I’m with somebody new. Oh, baby, baby, I’m dancing with a stranger”, they sing so effortlessly over the R&B tune.

Smith was writing the synth-pop track with Stargate and Jimmy Napes in a studio in Los Angeles where Normani happened to be in the next door studio. The two artist then got the idea to collaborate and produce the track together.
Speaking on the track, Smith shared:
“I’m so excited for everyone to hear ‘Dancing With a Stranger’, which I wrote on ‘The Thrill Of It All’ tour last year. For me it bottles everything I was feeling whilst juggling my personal life and touring. It is also such a beautiful moment for me as I’m a huge, huge fan of Normani and everything she is. I’m so excited to watch her light shine. I hope everyone enjoys hearing this song as much as I do”.
Normani had added: “I’m truly blessed having the opportunity to create with one of the greatest vocalists of this decade. I think about the artists that I frequently listen to daily and Sam Smith has definitely been one of them for some time now. I never thought in a trillion years that I would be able to state that I have a record with this extremely gifted being”.
Rising solo artist Normani has previously collaborated with Khalid for “Love Lies”, “Waves” with 6LACK, Calvin Harris for “Checklist” and “Slow Down”, and more. She is currently preparing her forthcoming solo album and is set to join Ariana Grande on The Sweetener World Tour in March.
