If you were worried that Shane Black, director of comedies (The Nice Guys, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), writer of 90s action movies (The Last Boy Scout, The Long Kiss Goodnight), was set to make the upcoming Predator film a toned down snoozefest, then you’d be wrong – and you probably should watch some of his other films.
No, The Predator will be returning to its roots as the bloody, gory beast that battled with Arnie back in 1987. Possibly (probably) thanks to the recent R-Rated box office success of Deadpool, Black is free to run riot with his imagination.
While Black has helmed a big budget film before – Iron Man 3 – this will mark the first time he’s dipped his toes in the horror waters. Despite his ostensible inexperience, his hiring was a pretty inspired choice – who wouldn’t want a man known for original plots and snappy dialogue at the helm of any major film? – and has Predator fans licking their lips.

And, just to be clear… PG-13 is for pussies. Spines bleed… a lot.

Well, err, ok. Black also teased that some big Predator news could be arriving today, possibly a trailer, so keep your eyes peeled and your spines out of harms way.
