Netflix has released brief clips of She’s Gotta Have It, a series that will be a new take on Spike Lee‘s 1986 film of the same name. Lee himself will direct each of the 10-episode dramedy, which re-imagines his original film into a contemporary setting.
The synopsis for the show states:
“Starring DeWanda Wise (Shots Fired) in the central role of Nola Darling, a Brooklyn-based artist in her late twenties struggling to define herself and divide her time amongst her friends, her job and her three lovers: Greer Childs played by Cleo Anthony (Divergent), Jamie Overstreet played by Lyriq Bent (The Book of Negroes), and Mars Blackmon played by Hamilton alum Anthony Ramos“.
The brief clip below is less of a trailer and more like a small set of clips intending to give viewers a feel of the new show rather than introduce characters. The show doesn’t debut on Netflix until Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 23), so there’s plenty of time for them to hype and market another new show from yet another cinematic auteur.
The Netflix catalogue is shaping up to look very impressive!
