Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for the upcoming Men In Black reboot, Men In Black: International, which will star Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth as the new lead duo on a mission in London.
Liam Neeson and Emma Thompson are also on board, with the latter actually reprising her role as Agent O from Men In Black 3 to add a little confusion as to whether the film is indeed a reboot or a sort of spin-off, but that seems to be the only continuation from the Will Smith/Tommy Lee Jones films.
The trailer leans on the wit and chemistry of Thompson and Hemsworth, and although it’s fair to say it looks like pretty much every other Men In Black film – or even every other cacophonous Hollywood blockbuster going today – it does have Straight Outta Compton and Fate Of The Furious director F. Gary Gray at the helm, so one should expect plenty of fun and well put-together action scenes.
Gray is taking over from Barry Sonnenfeld, who directed the first three Men In Black movies, and the script has been penned by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man).
The film also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Kumail Najiani, Rafe Spall, and Laurent Bourgeois. Expect it to perform very well at the box office when it opens bang in the middle of next year’s summer movie season on June 14, 2019.
