South African singer, songwriter and musician Langa Mavuso has released his brand new single “Panther”. With the soulful R&B track, the Johannesburg native offers a first glimpse into his upcoming self-titled album Langa, which is scheduled for release on September 25.
After a long education in music, the young artist brought his talent in singing and performing into the South African music scene. His debut EP Liminal Sketches gained a lot of attention and was critically acclaimed.
The latest song was highly anticipated after Langa’s previous single “Love Lost”, and it comes on the back of Langa being praised by tastemakers like GQ, Pete Tong (BBC Radio1), Red Bull Music and ELLE South Africa. Langa even became Deezer’s Next Artist of 2020.
For “Panther”, he crafted it with production duo Noble, who recently worked on Beyoncé’s Grammy Award-winning album. The smooth R&B track comes with great vocals and takes the listener on a late summer evening ride. In the emotive lyrics Langa deals with a heartbreak and his emotions while healing from this experience.
“The song was inspired by a tumultuous time in my life where I had surrounded myself with many distractions to try and get over the pain and heartbreak of a difficult breakup, it captures how exhausting it became to pretend that things were alright with me after this relationship ended” , he explains.
In his honest songwriting Langa shares how he used to run away from emotions and the tend of people to escape in order to distract from their pain. Listen to the compelling track below.
