‘Star Trek 3’ To Explore ‘Whole New Worlds And Species’ | Film News

Deadline have reported that Justin Lin, director of the upcoming Star Trek 3, is going to consider new species and planets for his installment of the Star Trek series. J.J Abrams’ last two blockbuster successes saw the crew battle on earth and stagnated within other planets, however with Lin set to direct, it means new environments will be explored as Captain Kirk and his crew travel on a five year expedition through space. “The Klingons, Romulans and other species are great, but it’s time to go further. It has been fun to focus on creating whole new worlds and species”, he confirmed.

With recent reports suggesting the script is under works, with Simon Pegg developing the script, we can expect a more action packed travel that will see the return of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, and Zoe Saldana as they come face to face with a potential new villain. It is suggested that Idris Elba is in talks to be part of the project, which has a release date of June 2016.
