Gareth Edward‘s Star Wars spin-off has had its fair share of rumours, ranging from possible to ridiculous and speculating about anything from casting to narrative detail. Well, thanks to Disney, we now get some official details as the spin-off flick gets its official release date and title! With The Theory of Everything star Felicity Jones set to appear, Star Wars: Rogue One is official confirmed to have a release date of December 16, 2016.
With a script from Chris Weltz (Cinderella, About a Boy) and a story concept from John Knoll; Edwards will be helming this impending project with shooting to begin in London this summer. While there are no plot details confirmed yet, Rogue One is the call-sign for the leader of The Rogue Squadron, the elite starfighter group for the Rebel Alliance.
