The news arrives just as another Star Wars spinoff, Solo: A Star Wars Story, hits theaters: the long-rumoured project on Boba Fett is green-lit. The franchise’s fanbase will be thrilled to learn that the galaxy’s most notorious bounty hunter, having appeared in both the prequels and the original Star Wars trilogy, is officially getting his own movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, James Mangold is to write and direct the stand-alone movie for Lucasfilm, which allegedly has many other spinoff projects in the works — including one about Obi-Wan Kenobi. Mangold, acclaimed for his work on Logan, seems like a good pick as he is used to directing successful movies on glorified action figures.
We are counting on him to bring the cult favourite Boba Fett to life on the big screen for his own spinoff film.
