Steven Spielberg’s ‘Ready Player One’ Pushed Back To 2018 | Film News

It has been reported that film legend Steven Spielberg has delayed his latest project, Ready Player One, until March 30, 2018. It was originally intended for a December 17, 2017 release but the decision has been made to postpone its’ release to avoid a clash with Star War Episode VIII which comes out December 15, 2017. You can’t blame them for not wanting to go up against that.

Set in 2044, Ready Player One follows the story of a teenage boy called Wade Watts, a talented gamer who finds freedom and happiness in the virtual reality MMO video game known as The Oasis. However, when the creator of The Oasis announces an in-game treasure hunt for an ‘Easter Egg’, with the prize being his whole real-life fortune, Watts will be confronted by players willing to kill for the prize that is guaranteed to make whoever wins it one of the richest individuals in the world.

The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. and The Hollywood Reporter has claimed in the past that Olivia Cooke and Ben Mendelsohn have been cast as ‘Art3mis’ and Nolan Sorrentino respectively. The actor who will play Wade Watts has not been announced but it has been indicated that Nick Robinson is a favourite choice of Speilberg’s; and when Spielberg wants, Spielberg gets. Ernest Cline, the writer of the novel, has been the one to write the screenplay so we can expect an honest translation. There is no trailer yet but don’t let this slip off your radar.
