Emerging Swedish Turkish artist, Izza Gara, has breathed life into the R&B genre with her self-produced and written single, “Mama Wise Words”. Released on June 30, 2023, this track envelops listeners in melodies reminiscent of early 2000s R&B, enhanced by appealing synth and light, catchy percussion.
“Mama Wise Words” was born from a heart-to-heart conversation with her mother. During their discourse, Izza captured her mother’s profound relationship advice.
One of the impactful Turkish proverbs shared was, “If you don’t value me, you have no value in my eyes either.” This resonated deeply with Izza, reinforcing her self-worth and offering solace in times of self-doubt and uncertainty.
Izza expresses, “I took the opportunity to record her, so that I could listen to the recording whenever I felt myself becoming weak and indecisive again.” The single even incorporates a poignant moment of introspection with the line, “What if I was a Jellyfish, mama?”
Already known globally as a dancer, Izza embarked on her musical journey with the debut album “Lonely Too?” in 2021. Her popularity grew with the successful release of “Came To Dance” in 2022, leading to features on esteemed Spotify playlists such as New Hip Hop & RnB.
Izza has been lighting up stages in Stockholm and Gothenburg, earning accolades from the Göteborgs Posten newspaper as a rising talent. As she gears up for a tour, Izza says, “I’m really excited to share more visual art and expand my artistic spectrum.”
