Taylor Swift is not only topping the charts, according to Forbes’ annual celebrity 100 list. The worldwide force, whose last album, 1989, has sold more than 5 million units in the US alone, has earned a staggering $170m between June 2015 and June 2016. This putting her at the top of the list.
She topples last year’s highest-paid musician, Katy Perry, who reportedly earned $135m in 2015. Perry reached the top last year on the strength of a world tour, hit songs and endorsements.
Swift, on the other hand, has earned her riches via the 1989 world tour, which has even beaten The Rolling Stones’ North American touring record, pulling in a gross of $200m. Endorsements with Keds, Diet Coke and Apple also boosted her financial profile.
She more than doubles her previous financial success, reportedly earning $80m in 2015. However, boxer, Floyd Mayweather, boxed clever last year, bringing in $300m in 2015 after taking part in “the fight of the century” with Manny Pacquiao.
