Everyone knows, at this point, that events like the MTV Video Music Awards, Grammys, or any other music show are never just about music.
Every time the world looks at the celebrities who take part in these events, one of the most awaited moments is, indeed, the red carpet. New trends, fashionable patterns, stylish clothes: everything you need to know about the current fashion industry is exhibited there!
At the VMAs, held on August 29 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, incredible looks showed up, delighting both audience and critics. Unfortunately, though, this hasn’t been always the case, as some of the stars overstepped a little!
The Cosmopolitan magazine took good care of it, drafting an interesting list of the 20 best and worst-dressed celebrities who took part at the MTV event last night.
Among the best dressed we find Lizzo, with a beautiful dark blue gown, bringing some old-school elegance into the arena. The Blackpink, who showed up in big names, from Celine and Dior to Chanel and Saint Laurent, with their usual chic all-black look.
Jack Harlow, one of the event’s presenters, wore Hermès. Which is pretty good already, even if you didn’t know that he wore a head-to-toe leather suit. In August. In New Jersey. But this is Jack Harlow, and he looked incredibly cool.
Who else is among the best dressed? Måneskin, of course, in Gucci as always; Khalid in a colourful Versace suit; Lil Nas X wearing an unbelievable artwork by Harris Reed; and Dylan O’Brien’s sexy and tropical look by Bode.
And what about the worst? Well, maybe “worst” is not the best term, because these are still fashionable pieces of art, but let’s say that they didn’t fit the event.
Firstly, Tate McRae showed up in a doubtful dress by Ninè, which didn’t really convince us; Sabrina Carpenter in a Moschino gown that didn’t cover much, making it tacky; and Bebe Rexha in a fine, but a little disappointing and basic black dress by Vivienne Westwood.
And then Taylor Swift, one of the main protagonists at the VMAs 2022, in Oscar de la Renta, Anitta in Schiapparelli, Dixie D’Amelio in Alexandre Vauthier, and J Balvin in Luis Vuitton: all good looks but nothing breathtaking or unforgettable, instead a little underwhelming.
