Jon Stewart put the world into a stupor when he announced in February 2015 that he would be leaving The Daily Show. His departure after 17 years on the show was honored with a three-segment, hour-long special in August of the same year, a dramatic affair really.
But equally as big of a deal was the reunion episode on CBS’ The Late Show! Jon Stewart, Samantha Bee, John Oliver, Rob Corddry and Ed Helms joined host Stephen Colbert and looked back on their years on the Comedy Central late-night mainstay.
“This arrangement we have right now is exactly something we would have made fun of on ‘The Daily Show’”, Colbert had joked.
But they weren’t there to just swap stories and clips – The Daily Show alums also honored Stewart, who has since his departure made several appearances on the Late Show (and actually serves as an executive producer) after Colbert took over in September 2015.
