Scottish rock band The Jesus And Mary Chain are far from throwing in the towel. After releasing six albums from the early 80s to late 90s, they’re finally ready to break into the 21st century with number 7, ending this 17-year long wait. The band who in recent years have been considered to be more of a middle aged touring attraction delivering classics such as “Just Like Honey” to their life long fans, are proceeding to the next step by making records again.
Front man Jim Reid claims in a recent interview “It’s early days, but I would say it’s a more mature sound for the Mary Chain. But let’s just wait and see”. Apparently, this has been the plan since they got back together in 2007 but clashes between the two brothers about getting it just right slowed down the process. “We thought ‘We’ve got a bunch of songs, this would make a pretty good Mary Chain album’ – and then there was the usual slaps and scratches between my brother and myself. ‘I wanna do it here’ and ‘I don’t’ and then it was all ‘Fuck you’ and swinging at each other. The usual s**t basically“.
