Gareth Evans, perhaps one of the greatest directors and choreographers to the modern action genre, has just unleashed one of the coolest short films you’ll probably ever see.
Entitled Pre Vis Action and released under his youtube channel, the five minute clip features a black and white fight scene set in the Japanese Feudal era. Stylistically, it stays true to the action presented in The Raid films, all the while maintaining its influence from Japanese Chanbara (Samurai Western).
Despite the film only being intended as a test action sequence, no one can deny the directors capacity to make such an exciting piece of work. So here’s to hoping for the release of a feature length version of the clip!
