‘The Statistical Probability Of Love At First Sight’ Adaptation Coming To Netflix

Netflix continues to expand their amount of young adult content. The streamer announced that they’ve acquired the global rights to Jennifer E. Smith‘s novel The Statistical Probability Of Love At First Sight, and plan to turn it into a movie.

Haley Lu Richardson (Columbus, Support The Girls) has already been cast in the lead role, with Ben Hardy, Jameela Jamil, Rob Delaney, Dexter Fletcher, and Sally Phillips also joining the cast. Vanessa Caswill, who previously helmed the 2017 BBC miniseries version of Little Women, will direct from a script written by Katie Lovejoy.

The story revolves around Hadley Sullivan, who meets a man named Oliver on a flight from New York to London. During the flight, she finds herself falling for him, but the pair are separated at customs upon landing before she is able to get his contact information. Hadley then traverses London, hoping to reunite with Oliver, despite the chance of doing so being slim.

ACE Entertainment is producing the film, continuing their partnership with Netflix. ACE previously produced the streamer’s successful To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before franchise and are doing the same for another upcoming YA feature, Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between (apparently Netflix only produce YA projects with very long titles).

Richardson is an up-and-coming star who has already proven her impressive range. Her last five movies have all been wildly different, while she also has a main role on the ongoing second season of The White Lotus. Her bubbly personality should fit perfectly with this film.

There’s currently no release date set for The Statistical Probability Of Love At First Sight.
