Manchester’s legendary indie outfit The Stone Roses will reform once more next year for two homecoming gigs in the city’s Etihad Stadium, alongside a headline appearance at T in the Park.
The news was announced following a mysterious promotional campaign that saw the band’s logo plastered over Manchester’s Northern Quarter. The shows will be the band’s first since 2012. Rumours of a long awaited third album have circulated since the bands initial reunion, but no further details on a ‘Third Coming’ have been announced thus far.
The forerunners of the 90’s ‘Madchester’ scene have enjoyed a strained relationship since their initial break up in 1996, amidst lineup changes and highly publicised arguments, with bassist Gary Mounfield famously proclaiming in 2005 that the band would only reunite once Manchester City lifted the European Cup.
