Forget 50 Shades of Grey, there’s a new kink in town. The new trailer for Peter Strickland‘s The Duke of Burgundy is possible one of the weirdest trailers we’ve seen all year. A mix of Victorian horror and Lars Von Trier-esque narrative, The Duke of Burgundy tells the story of a women who studies moths and butterflies who begins to test the limits of her relationship with her female lover.
It’s difficult to determine what exactly the film is about, other than sexual exploration, but it definitely looks darker than your average sexual thriller. The film has been doing well on the festival circuit so we’re actually really intrigued to see what Strickland’s got to offer. Starring Monica Swinn, Sidse Babett Knudsen and Chiara D’Anna, The Duke of Burgundy hits UK theatres February 20th 2015.
