Saying the Stark family have had a tough time in the Game of Thrones universe is an understatement; they started off as one of the stronger families in the series, but now those of them who haven’t been brutally killed are scattered to the four winds.
Sansa, the oldest Stark daughter has had her fair share of misfortune throughout the series and for a long time it’s seemed like she just can’t catch a break. She’s been married off against her will, kidnapped, and last season was forced to marry the deranged Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon), but this time it looks like her luck might be changing. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sophie Turner, the actress who plays Sansa has hinted that her character will be getting the break she deserves:
“I mean this season is a really, really big one for Sansa. It’s probably her best season yet. It’s her really coming into her own. She, this season, really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it and it’s really good“.
A change in Sansa’s character should make for a very interesting plot development for her character, as she’s never really been as bold or tough as her siblings, but as Turner stated, “[She] can only suffer so much before she finally gets … the respect that she deserves“.
Game of Thrones returns for its sixth season this April.
