Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg will work together again on the upcoming Cold War drama, Bridge Of Spies. The duo, who hold three Academy Awards between them, have not worked on a project together for eleven years. The film will chart the trials of a Brooklyn based insurance claims lawyer, charged with negotiating the release of an American spy plane pilot during the early sixties. Bridge Of Spies will be distributed in the UK by 20th Century Fox.
Check out the official synopsis here: “During the Cold War, the Soviet Union captures U.S. pilot Francis Gary Powers after shooting down his U-2 spy plane. Sentenced to 10 years in prison, Powers only hope is New York lawyer James Donovan (Tom Hanks), recruited by a CIA operative (Scott Shepherd) to negotiate his release. Donovan boards a plane to Berlin, hoping to win the young man’s freedom through a prisoner exchange. If all goes well, the Russians would get convicted spy Rudolf Abel, who Donovan defended in court years earlier“.
